Institute of Automation Technology (IAT) is one of the prestigious institutes in School of Mechanical Engineering, Dalian University of Technology. There are 10 fixed researchers and over 100 temporary researchers working in IAT. The research work of the institute is mainly concentrated on multi-disciplinary design of major equipment, special forming and surface modification technology of mechanical parts, etc. Dozens of important research projects such as National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, the Major State Basic Research Development Program of China (973 Program), the National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program), and Key Project of National Science & Technology have been completed in recent years. Some of these projects have been rewarded with Science & Technology Progress Prize. The institute now becomes an important R&D center of mechatronic systems in China.
