In order to activate the campus atmosphere, promote the scientific quality of teachers and students, and help widen the horizon on the computational mechanics field, SEM invited professor Wing Kam Liu, from the Northwestern University, USA. Professor Liu had given an academic report titled “Deriving process-structure-properties relationships for additive manufacturing with data-driven multi-scale multi-physics material models” at 15:00 p.m. on 19th October, 2016. Academician Dongming Guo, the president of DUT, professor Wei Sun, dean of SME, professor Xu Guo of department of engineering mechanics attended the seminar.

Professor Liu introduced the development potential of additive material manufacturing technology, and after the report, teachers and students from SME had a discussion with him. When the seminar finished, professor Bi Zhang introduced the Key Laboratory for Precision and Non-Traditional Machining Technology, and then visited the laboratory.
